Making the Dream of Foreign Education a Reality: Guidance Workshop by MAS Consulting in Negombo

Must read

A highly successful guidance workshop for youth aspiring to pursue higher education abroad and their parents was recently organized by MAS Consulting at the main hall of “The Kingsbury Hotel” in Ettukalama, Negombo. The distinguished chief guests at this event were Venerable Yatawatte Gnanarama Thero and Dr. Kosala Pathiraja from the Ministry of Education.

MAS Consulting: Realizing Thousands of Dreams

Established in 2007 as “London Lanka Institute” and later operating its coordination services as “MAS Consulting” in 2012, the organization has since enabled thousands of local youth to secure higher education opportunities in leading global nations—particularly European countries like Poland, Malta, Estonia, Luxembourg, Lithuania, as well as Russia and Japan.

The Importance of Making Right Decisions

Delivering a special lecture at the workshop, Milroy Fernando, the CEO of MAS Consulting, provided comprehensive awareness regarding selecting suitable study destinations, academic streams, and higher education courses for aspiring students and parents. He emphasized that before entering a university or higher education institute abroad, students must thoroughly research and make informed, sound decisions.

He pointed out that the primary and fundamental qualification for pursuing foreign education is sitting for the G.C.E. Advanced Level (A/L) examination. Relying on foundation courses without taking the A/L exam often makes realizing the dream of studying abroad a difficult task.

Mr. Fernando further highlighted that many students and parents make foreign education choices impulsively, often following the footsteps of friends or relatives who went abroad. Some youth pressure families into excessive debt, mortgaging their homes to match the expenses of peers. He stressed the importance of choosing globally recognized courses and universities that match personal financial capabilities, ensuring that living and accommodation costs align with the family’s economic standing rather than blindly chasing popular destinations. By choosing high-demand fields at affordable, recognized institutions, students can secure good employment worldwide and uplift their life standards.

Educational and Career Opportunities in Japan

Following the opening address, Japanese education specialist Professor Muri delivered a special lecture detailing career and educational pathways in Japan. She was joined by two visiting Japanese higher education experts from Japan—Professor Megumi Akimoto and Miki Hachisuka—who conducted a joint presentation highlighting Japan’s premier automotive engineering university and the career prospects available to Sri Lankan youth.

Nakanihon Automotive College: Gateway to a Bright Future

Nakanihon Automotive College is Japan’s foremost and largest university specializing in automotive engineering and motor mechanics. With a 59-year legacy and a 100% employment placement rate, it is located in Japan’s Aichi Prefecture, between Tokyo and Kyoto.

Sri Lankan youth now have the opportunity to follow a two-year Automotive Engineering course or a three-year Motorsports Engineering course at the college. These programs command high salary potential globally. Additionally, the affiliated Japanese language school offers 1-year, 1.5-year, and 2-year structured language programs to build operational fluency.

The college provides comprehensive accommodation and round-the-clock health facilities, with international-standard hospitals located just minutes away, offering complete peace of mind to parents.
