Mankuliya bridge

Must read

The huge piers under the very important Mankuliya Bridge connecting Negombo and Talahena Peru have been crumbling for some time now.

Antiquarians say that before 1950 when there was no bridge, the people of Talahena Peru used the Tota Oru ( traditional craft ) to reach the city of Negombo.

Current Negombo NPP City Councilor Sangeeth Perera sent us in 2019 how most of the pillars of this over 75 year old bridge broke like this.

However, the renovation work of Mankalia Bridge started two or three months ago.

Work is progressing very slowly.

However, we hope that this work will be expedited under a NPP and immediate steps will be taken to conduct a proper inquiry into the quality of the bridge.
