(7.15 pm) The Negombo dry fish producers had recently said that if the salt issue is not resolved during the discussion held this evening, they will organize a protest in front of the Negombo Municipal Council tomorrow.
However, during the discussion held this evening, Deputy Minister Sugath Thilakaratne had told the dry fish producers that a proper program would be organized to supply salt within 10 days.
Also, those who attended the meeting were informed about the possibilities of obtaining salt to meet the current salt requirement.
As a result of the Deputy Minister’s intervention, the protest scheduled for tomorrow has also been cancelled.
